Police Find Guns, Ammunition After Foot Chase Of 4 Men

 BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Wednesday 12th September 2018)-Earlier today, three out of four men were caught and taken into custody following a police foot chase in Keys Village which led to officers finding, in total, six (6) firearms – two (2) .45 pistols, two (2) .40 pistols, one (1) 9mm pistol and one (1) .38 revolver – and in excess of two hundred and fifty (250) rounds of assorted ammunition.

According to the police public’s relations department this operation has resulted in  “the largest ammunition and second largest firearm find in the Federation.”

Reportedly, police conducted an operation that morning and while approaching a premises in the area they saw four (4) males in a yard.

“The men began running when they saw the Police approaching. The Police pursued. While chasing the persons, one (1) individual threw what appeared to be a bag over a wall. Upon inspection, the bag contained what appeared to be pistols and a large quantity of ammunition. During the chase of another individual, Police came across another bag. Upon inspection, the bag contained what also appeared to be pistols, a quantity of marijuana and a large amount of assorted ammunition,” police say.

The items found have been taken into police custody along with a rental vehicle.

According to police, one of the men who managed to escape is currently being sought.

Technicians from the Forensic Department visited and processed the scene.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
