Workers! My faith responds to the needs of you at the workplaces, my heart moves
from inaction to action from the words alone to the deeds that back them up.
Compassionate action not only aids those mired in life difficulties at the
workplaces but it may open the greater message from the St.Kitts-Nevis Trades &
Labour Union who see the need and are willing to do much more for you. Hello!
Problems will disrupt our lives but they cannot defeat us. You hear that?! Take
it seriously!
Workers, some of the unsafe and unhealthy practices I see on the workplaces
upsets me so greatly when it appears as though such measures seem insignificant.
As a graduate of Occupational Safety and Health Administration Orientation
Program, I had blown it out of proportion because I was mad; but listen to this;
tempted to respond in anger more often than I would like to admit. I just find
myself to put into practice a familiar Bible truths such as Be angry and do not
sin and Let each of you look out not only for his own interest but also for
the interests of others.
Workers! Before I close this topic Cost of Fighting For: There is a new list
which includes a range of internationally recognised Occupational diseases from
illnesses caused by chemical, physical and biological agents to respiratory and
skin diseases such as occupational cancer for the first time mental and
behavioural disorder have been specifically included in the International Labour
Organisation (ILO) List and because this list, it has opened all the sections
deal with aforementioned diseases.
Hello! What I am saying is that the working population and their families will
benefit from this new list but you will have to do some research. Sometime I ask
myself if I am writing because I love to do so. It is the Awareness: I am
contemplating on but it seem as though some workers don t care. I show caution
by recognising dangers early and we remain innocent. Workers, keep your eyes
open and guard against every sort of greed. (Working without proper health and
safety facilities).
*Note Well* Just a reminder. Some hazards are obvious to any observer looking
for them. Example: Badly stacked pallets oil on floors, trailing wire in the
office and so on but many hazards are not at all obvious. In some cases, people
get so used to their workplaces that they develop blind spots to potential
dangers. In other instances, hazards are not at all obvious. In other instances,
hazards may be hard to spot because they do not have immediate effects. Example:
Noise and some poisons.
Some hazards only become apparent when special operations. Example: Maintenance
and cleaning are being carried out. Even when an accident has happened,
observers may be looking so hard at what the victim was doing wrong that they
fail to spot effects in system of work itself.
