Can The Material With Which Our P.M. Is Made, Bring Progress To Our Federation?

This is why our country is in crisis! This is why all and sundry are bawling loudly today! “Who cannot hear will certainly feel (granny)” And, while the country degenerates into economic and social degradation, our new, personal ambitious leader romps up and down the world in faraway places with a motley group of hangers on, whom he claims to be the best high level delegation the country can produce to represent us abroad. What a sordid state of affairs our once #1 country in the OECS, #2 in the whole Caribbean and the seventh most sought after destination in the world has been downgraded to? Would we be able to sing “Joy to the world” at Christmas time?

It is a known fact that when a smuggler is going smuggling, he does not choose persons who are going to become sea-sick. No! He chooses hardened sailors who could withstand the rough as well as the calm seas, so he chooses his men well. Just so with a criminal who is planning to go on a rampage for he wants his adventure to be successful. He does not choose persons who will faint at the sound of a gunshot or whose conscience will prick them if someone had to be killed during a robbery? Only hardened criminals like himself will be chosen. Birds of a feather always flock together; if you are a God fearing person who believes in high principle, integrity, honesty of purpose, you will never join such a nefarious group of men.

Our present day leader lacked all the above mentioned attributes. The only skill he was blessed with was the skill to back stab and his insatiable lust for political power. Mind you, I will never applaud him for those skills for his actions of yesterday have plunged my country into the abyss of backwardness and negativity. We, whose CBI Programme was envied and copied, we, who were once number one (1) in the Caribbean, are now minus number nought (0).

What a hell of a fall we have taken, eh, dear reader? We are now suffering from the bruised, broken bones of deceit, disrespect and shamefulness. All that we can see lying all around us are the dead bones of broken promises, nepotism, degradation, narcissism and anarchy. Change and decay in all around I see.

Those who once commanded the respect of all and sundry, but who now drives around in their jeep looking crest fallen and deflated, knew the man for a very a long time. For years they felt the negative vibes emanating from the man who even threatened their position and yet, they still turned around and allow a man of that nature to lure them away from the straight and narrow pathway of love and respect once held for them by all of the citizens of the land?

The good book says that we must always show mercy and compassion to those who have fainted by the wayside and, if we want to see the Master face to face, we have to forgive.
