BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 31st August 2018)– Drones used to locate a 69-year-old man, who went missing of the Charlestown Pier area over a week ago, have failed to find any sign of him after coverage of several thousands of feet from the shorelines in Nevis.

Missing is Nevisian Kuriel Robinson of Charlestown.

The local authorities have reported that last Friday (24th August), police officers in Division ‘C’ (Nevis) incorporated the use of a drone, also known as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), to increase surveillance of the island coast line in the areas of Pinney’s Beach, the Charlestown Port, Gallows Bay and Fort Charles.

It is said that the drone allowed for the officers to cover a radius of several thousand feet from the shoreline. However, nothing was found to satisfy the search.

To date sea searches have also been carried out by the St.Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard while members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have been searching on land.

At about 11 AM last Thursday(23rd August), police received a report that Robinson had gone swimming and did not return.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that at 6 a.m. Robinson met with another person.
Enquiries revealed, swam from Fort Charles heading towards Jessups, while the other person walked to the same area.

The police spoke with a number of persons in the area, but are still urging persons who might have seen something or know anything regarding this incident to contact the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391/5392.
