Missing Elderly Swimmer Identified

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Sunday 26th August 2018)– The Police Public Relations Department has released the photo identity of the elderly swimmer who recently disappeared off Charlestown Pier in Nevis.

Kuriel Robinson, 69, from the community of Charlestown went swimming last Thursday (23rd August) and did not return.

Police fear that he is missing at sea.

This afternoon, a Missing Person Poster was released after Robinson’s photo was shared separately.

Corrected in the new communication from the police is the spelling of the missing man’s first name and also his age.

He is described to be stocky at 5’ feet 11 inches in height with a light skin complexion, grey facial hair and brown eyes.

Sea searches have been carried out by the St.Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard while members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have been searching on land.

At about 11 AM last Thursday, police received a report that Robinson had gone swimming and did not return.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that at 6 a.m. Robinson met with another person.

Enquiries revealed, swam from Fort Charles heading towards Jessups, while the other person walked to the same area.

The last place Robinson was seen was somewhere off the Charlestown Pier. At the time of this report, he had not been heard from.

The police spoke with a number of persons in the area, but are still urging persons who might have seen something or know anything regarding this incident to contact the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391/5392.
