BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 30th September 2021) — Stanley Knight, 57, an immediate past Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Culture, has been convicted for the offence of Indecent Assault committed on October 31, 2018. On Monday 27th September 2021 he was found guilty by a majority verdict of 10-2. The judge ordered the preparation of a Social Inquiry report by October 25, 2021, and Knight is currently remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison pending sentencing. He is also a former educator.
In separate news, 34-year-old Kishaun Ritchen of Newtown was shot dead while walking in his community on Thursday 23rd September 2021. Close to 8 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in Newtown and found Ritchen’s motionless body lying in Agatha Johnson Lane. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ritchen and another individual were walking along the Lane when a masked gunman ran up behind him and shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In other police news, an armed robbery occurred at a restaurant in the Cades Bay area on Friday 24th September, when two masked assailants — one armed with a firearm and one with a machete — robbed the owners before fleeing.
