The Labour Spokesman is the newspaper of the St. Kitts-Nevis Trades & Labour Union, published from Masses House, Basseterre, St. Kitts since 1957. This policy explains what we collect through thelabourspokesman.com and why.
Information We Collect
- Analytics data. With your consent, Google Analytics 4 records pages viewed, approximate location at city level, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This is aggregated and is not used to identify you.
- Correspondence. If you write to the newsroom, we hold your message and contact details so we can reply and, where relevant, follow up on a story.
- Comments. If commenting is open on an article and you leave one, we store the name, email address and comment you submit, together with your IP address for spam prevention.
- Server logs. Our host records standard technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Why We Process It
To publish and improve the newspaper online, to understand readership, to respond to correspondence, to protect the site from abuse, and to meet our obligations as a publisher. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time through Cookie settings.
Sharing
We do not sell reader data. Data is processed on our behalf by our web host and by Google in connection with analytics. Journalistic sources and unpublished material are protected and are not disclosed except where the law compels it.
Retention
Analytics data is retained on Google’s standard schedule. Correspondence is kept for as long as it has editorial or archival value. Comments remain with the article unless removed on request.
Your Rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Requests relating to material we have published are considered against our duty to maintain an accurate public record, and against the archival and journalistic exemptions that apply to news publishers.
