Elections are not affairs with which anyone should gamble. The people of America are now experiencing the effects of their carelessness at the time of the 2016 general elections. They are now understanding just how difficult it is going to be getting rid of Trumpism and the American brand of fascism. A number of American political scientists have concluded that what we are witnessing is “a resurgence of American fascism, in the form of the current Republican Party, the ‘conservative’ movement, and the White Right more generally, all of which will long outlast Trump himself.” Such are the consequences of elections. We here in St. Kitts and Nevis need to pay very close attention and learn those lessons well. Our lot here at home is not much different. Indeed, it may well be a great deal worse.
