BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Friday 27th October 2023) – Past General Secretary of the Caribbean Congress of Labour, Mr. Asokore Beckles, has commented on the importance of the theme for the upcoming 84th annual conference of the St.

Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union. Speaking with this publication, he shared: “Why, you may ask, does this resonant call for worker protection hold such urgency in our times? The answer lies in the very essence of our shared humanity.

It lies in the belief that a worker’s toil, whether on a bustling factory floor or in the quiet hum of a home office, carries an inherent worth that demands recognition and respect. I am excited to be participating in this timely conference.” Beckles continued: “Its theme is ‘Protecting the Common Interests of Workers’.

It addresses critical issues in the 21st-century workplace, especially within the context of the Caribbean. Topics such as technological advancements, globalization, economic inequality, and climate change reflect a comprehensive

approach to understanding and addressing the challenges faced by workers in the region.” The conference is slated to take on Sunday 29th October 2023 at the Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC) Conference Room, located at Taylors Range in Basseterre, starting at – LOCAL NEWS – 3 10am.
