Traffic Lights Education Starts This Week

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Monday 11th December, 2017)– A town hall meeting on the subject of the of traffic lights in Basseterre is slated to take place tomorrow (Tuesday 12th December),7:00 PM at the Old Girls School (Anglican Church Hall) located on Victoria Road.

The purpose of the event, which is being put on by the Public Works Department and the Traffic Department, is to discuss the imminent commissioning of traffic lights.

Members of the public are invited to participate and to air their views.

Head of the Traffic Department Chief Inspector Carl Caines, during a recent interview with this media house informed that in an effort to mitigate traffic congestion in the Basseterre area, the Government has decided to erect traffic lights and signs at strategic locations.

The traffic lights are being installed at the intersection of Fort Street, Cayon Street and Victoria Road, the bottom of Fort Street which connects the Bay Road and at the Roundabout which joins Wellington Road, Pond Road and Cayon Street.

Chief Inspector Caines had disclosed also that work commenced on November 18th and that those particular lights should be fully operational by Christmas (Monday 25th December).
