The Labour Spokesman Editorial
Our beloved country of St Kitts and Nevis is once again in all kinds of trouble. The economy is in shambles, our public sector is in disarray, conditions at the hospitals are abominable, persons required to be fully impartial when dispensing justice are flagrantly indulging in partisan political campaigning, and on and on goes the litany of woes. Meanwhile a makeshift government, comprised of only three elected parliamentarians, ‘runs’ the country, and is indulging in an orgy of vindictiveness, including the ruthless firing of ALL members of ALL parastatal bodies and kindred entities.
The vast majority of our people are happy to have seen the end of that false entity which once masqueraded as ‘Team Unity’. Once in office it had been but a short time before persons began to realise that they were not really a ‘team unity’ but rather a ‘scheme unity.’ It is to be hoped that most of our people will forever remember and be guided by that most infamous utterance: “not one ah dem can hole ah candle of correction to me!” It will be very interesting to see if the prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis will attend the upcoming ‘Summit Of The Americas’ due to be held in Los Angeles, California, starting 6 June 2022. We advise against anyone holding their breath on this one.
So that, while we are happy to see the warnings play out in reality, and while so many of us are full of joy that our time of relief is drawing close, we of this newspaper feel it necessary to warn ALL of our people that we are not ‘out of the woods’ as yet. The evil one is now like a cornered animal. At such times animals are at their most dangerous. So it is with the naked emperor. He is most desperate to hold on to power, and will go to any lengths to hold on to a position from which he, his family, and close relatives can maintain their kleptocracy, and continue ripping off our people and our country. We CANNOT afford to relax our vigilance, not even for a brief moment. These are perilous times!
