BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Friday 30th July 2021) — Police Superintendent Cromwell Henry, a member of the COVID-19 National Task Force, is calling on the public to comply with current COVID-19 restrictions during the long holiday weekend approaching, stating: “Avoid crowds, avoid crowded events and always wear your mask and follow all the other protocols.” Speaking at the NEOC briefing on Wednesday 28th July 2021, he noted the new one-week curfew period that took effect on Monday 26th July and would continue until Monday 9th August, with the night curfew beginning at 11:00 PM nightly and ending at 5:00 AM. Mass gatherings remain prohibited, and only limited social activities are being approved by the Commissioner of Police at this time.

Henry highlighted Regulation 14 of the current Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Regulations, which requires all arriving fully vaccinated travellers to remain in a government quarantine facility for three days and be tested on day four, only being released upon receiving a negative PCR test result. He reported the enforcement of a recent quarantine breach: On Wednesday 21st July, Farakhan Assagay and Natasha Robinson arrived from the USA and were placed in quarantine at the Montpelier Hotel in Nevis. On Saturday 24th July, the couple left their quarantine without authorisation and journeyed to St. Kitts via ferry. They were located at a Frigate Bay residence that night and taken to the OTI government quarantine facility. Their tests returned negative and they were released on Tuesday 27th July. They were arrested and charged in Charlestown, convicted, and fined US$500, which they paid before being allowed to leave the Federation. “The police have taken a zero tolerance approach to breaches of quarantine as this puts the entire community at risk,” Henry stated.
