BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 15th February 2024)- The tragic incident involving young mother charged with killing her two children has sparked public speculation with many people questioning and thinking that mental illness played a role.
A press release issued on Tuesday 13th February 2024 informed that 35-year-old – NEWS –
Colander Caines of Upper Monkey Hill, St. Peter’s, St. Kitts has been charged with two (2) counts of Murder for the deaths of four (4)-year-old Calaysia Caines (female) and six (6)-month-old Kevon Caines (male), both also of Upper Monkey Hill.
Police say the criminal acts were committed between February 8th and 9th, and that Ms. Caines was charged on
February 12th at the Basseterre Police Station. In a prior statement on Saturday 10th February 2024, police informed about investigating an incident that caused the deaths of two (2) children. The incident was reported on February 9th, 2024, at 6:25PM.
Police say responding to the scene at the home of the mother, police found the children in a bedroom. Reportedly, both were unresponsive and subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Caines was found alive in another bedroom.
As disclosed, The Crime Scene Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) processed the scene and collected some items of evidential value. The RSCNPF has expressed sincere condolences to all who have been negatively impacted by this situation.
