Prison Escapee Jesus Valdez Escapes Again Just 15 Days After Recapture

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 18th May 2022) — An inmate of Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) in Basseterre has escaped fifteen days after he was captured following a previous escape in which he was on the run for more than fifteen days. The escapee is 20-year-old Jesus Valdez, a resident of Market Street in Basseterre who originally hails from the Dominican Republic. A police statement issued on Tuesday 17th May informed that Valdez escaped custody on May 16, 2022. He was on remand at the prison after being charged for the offence of assault. He is described as having a fair complexion, black hair, brown eyes, a slim build and 5’4” in height, with a date of birth of 01-02-2002.

Police had first informed about Valdez via an escaped prisoner bulletin on Thursday 14th April. After a wanted poster was issued on Friday 29th April, he was captured along the coastline at the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site area sometime before 9 p.m. on April 30 — 16 days after his initial escape. Now, just 15 days after his recapture, he has escaped again. Police are asking anyone who sees him or knows of Valdez’s whereabouts to contact Her Majesty’s Prison at 465-2241 ext. 4386, the Basseterre Police Station at 465-2241, or the crime hotline by dialling 707.
