Police Dismantle House Built From Stolen Materials

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (FEBRUARY 2018)-According to credible sources, police officers and other authorised individualsĀ  in Nevis dismantled a wooden house in the Government Road area on the island of Nevis on Sunday 18th February.

Reportedly, the material used to build the one-storey structure were stolen from various areas across Nevis.

These areas include but not limited to: Brown Hill, Church Ground, Burden Pasture and Prospect.

Following the removal of the building materials owners of the stolen items allegedly gathered to identify and lay claim to their merchandise.

However, persons are inquiring if the authorities acted in accordance to law noting that the house should have been seized and cordoned off pending investigations and/or a court order.

There are more allegations that police dismantled another house in Ramsbury Nevis the next day (Monday). That house was also said to have been built from stolen materials.

Up to press time, the police had not made any official statement relating to the matter.
