Dr. Judy Nisbett, Chair of the Nevis COVID-19 Task Force and Medical Officer of Health, confirmed five cases of fish poisoning treated at the Alexandra Hospital in Nevis during the previous week. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources in St. Kitts issued a press statement that the Department of Fisheries is investigating reports of fish poisoning particularly at the Basseterre Fisheries Complex, and suspended its Fresh Fish Programme until the source is discovered. All fish at the complex have been removed and the complex sanitized. The public is advised that if an illness is suspected related to fish poisoning, medical care should be sought immediately and public health authorities notified.
