Mom Mourns Loss Of ‘Best Friend’ Victoria McElwee, Ross University Veterinary Student, In Fatal Frigate Bay Crash

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 28th May 2026) — A mother based in the United States is mourning the tragic loss of her daughter, Victoria McElwee, a veterinary student at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, who died following a fatal traffic accident that took place on Friday 22nd May 2026. Taking to social media in an emotional tribute, the grieving mother Cammy McElwee wrote: “My beautiful daughter, Summer, passed away in St. Kitts and Nevis, where she was attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She was not only my daughter, but my very best friend, my heart, and my world.”

“She loved dancing, the beach, her family, and her friends more than anything. She adored her dog, Ryder, and her cat, Kendal. She had the most beautiful smile and could light up an entire room the moment she walked in.” According to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), the fatal accident occurred on the night of May 22nd 2026, between approximately 11:30 p.m. and midnight. Motor jeep R-18 was travelling along Half Moon Bay Road when it struck a curb wall, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle subsequently flipped multiple times before colliding with a building at Half Moon Bay Villas and came to rest on its roof. The driver, Ms. McElwee, a resident of Half Moon Bay Villas in Frigate Bay, was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Crime Scene Unit processed the area and collected items of evidential value. Investigations remain ongoing. The RSCNPF extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
