Joint Operation Reaps Major Gun And Ammunition Seizure

Basseterre, St. Kitts– A joint operation between the Special Service Unit (SSU), the K9 Unit, the Drug Squad and the Anti-Gang Unit has led to a major seizure of guns and ammunition.

According to the authorities, the targeted intelligence operation began at around 8:00 PM on Thursday 2nd November and climaxed at around 5:00 AM the following day (November 3rd).

It was further revealed that the bust consisted of two hundred (200) rounds of ammunition inclusive of seventy rounds of .22 calibre, fifty-seven rounds of 7.62 calibre, fifty rounds of 5.56 calibre, 2 rounds of 9mm calibre and nine rounds of 38 ammunition.

The seizure also yielded three bullet proof vests, one AK 47 and one 9MM pistol.

The police did not disclose where the bust was made.

One person of interest was taken into police custody and is assisting with the investigations.

Another person was also taken into police custody as a result of an undisclosed quantity of drugs that was found during the bust.

So far no charges have been laid.

The Public Relations Office of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is reassuring the public that the force is committed in the fight against crime and violence noting that these intelligence based operations are part of the ongoing fight against crime in the Federation.
