BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 3rd  May 2019)- One young homeowner is currently out on bail pertaining to a recent shooting and wounding of a young workman in Old Road.

Police say Elmoth Rawlins of Hermitage Road has been granted bail after being charged for the offences of Attempted Murder and Grievous Bodily Harm.

Reportedly, he was granted bail on his own recognizance in the sum of ECD$1000.00 and is set to appear at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on Monday 1st July.

Police investigations revealed that at about 7:00 a.m. on Monday 15th April, Elmoth Rawlins was at home when he heard someone enter through the kitchen door.

Reportedly, as a result, he fired a single gunshot with his licenced firearm in the direction of the person.

Shot and injured in the neck was 22-year-old Dijourn Richardson of Buckley’s who had previously been doing electrical work on the premises with his stepfather.

He was transported to the Joseph N France General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is presently warded in a critical condition.

Rawlins, along with his firearm, were taken into police custody.

This media house understands that the wounded young man works with his Stepfather Dwayne Woodley of Woodley’s Electrical Services.

It is alleged that on the morning of the incident, the homeowner called Woodley at around 6:30 am informing him that there was something that needed checking out at the property to which Woodley replied that he would pass by when he got the chance.

According to further details, that morning, the stepfather-son pair while heading to a job in Sandy Point stopped by the Old Road work site to pick up a drop cord needed for the work assignment.

Woodley who is said to have had keys to the property asked Richardson who had checked the garbage in search of the cord to check on the inside using the keys to the house.

Furthermore, it is alleged that after hearing the shot fired, Woodley ran inside and found his stepson lying bloodied on the ground and was met by Rawlins who apologised saying he did not know it was Richardson.

To date, Richardson is said to be experiencing no movement of his lower body.

As gathered, Rawlins is in his 20s also.
