BASSETERRE (Friday 19th March 2021) — Over ten bus drivers of the East Bus Line Association marched to Government Headquarters on Monday 15th March 2021, chanting “Ease de squeeze!” to draw attention to complaints about the Wellington Road terminal opened in December 2018, which they say has not been managed fairly. Association president Jefferson Pemberton said buses stationed inside the terminal lose passengers to buses operating outside picking people up on the main road. “Desperate people do desperate things,” he said. That afternoon, following the protest, the Deputy PM reached the association and a cabinet meeting produced commitments for enforcement of parking rules and minor repair works. Traffic tickets issued during the protest were subsequently withdrawn.
