BASSETERRE (Friday 19th March 2021) — Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Cameron Wilkinson addressed public concerns about blood clotting side effects from the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine at the NEOC COVID-19 Briefing on Wednesday 17th March. WHO data from 268 million doses administered worldwide found no serious side effects or deaths caused by any approved vaccine. Of 17 million persons in Europe who received the jab, 37 developed blood clots (0.002%). “You’re currently 10,000 times more likely to get a clot if you got COVID-19 disease than if you got the vaccine,” said Dr. Wilkinson. As of 17 March, 7,071 individuals in St. Kitts-Nevis had been vaccinated. There are currently 2 active COVID-19 cases out of 44 confirmed.
