Dead Cyclist Identified

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Thursday 7th February 2019)- Police have identified the motorcyclist killed following this week’s traffic accident in the Chicken Stone community on Nevis.

Dead is 44 year-old Stuart James David of New River Estate.

Police say the fatal accident occurred just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday 5th February involving motor bike P922, which was owned and ridden by David, and pickup truck P2948 owned and driven by Orville Bartlette of Cole Hill, Gingerland.

Investigations so far have revealed that motor bike P922 was traveling from Gingerland heading towards Charlestown, while pickup truck P2948 was traveling in the opposite direction. Upon approaching Chicken Stone, P922 and P2948 collided.

David was pronounced dead at the scene, resulting in a first recorded road fatality for 2019.

One person was taken into police custody to assist with investigations into the fatal incident.
