BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 10th June 2021) — Well-known Cultural Preservationist Dr. Winston ‘Zack’ Nisbett continues to play his part in cultural education for St. Kitts-Nevis youths, emphasising that instilling cultural awareness at an early stage is imperative for keeping culture alive. Speaking at the Tucker Clarke Primary School’s May Fair on Friday 19th May 2021, where Grade 1 and 2 students performed the May Pole Dance and the Cake Walk, Nisbett said such programmes also enable families to financially benefit during tourism season when children showcase cultural talents.
Nisbett has been working with the Ministry of Culture for the past four years preparing schools with cultural programmes. “If you want to get the schools moving you must be dedicated, must have the application, the inspiration and the patience. When you call on the children you see them run coming and making noise because they want to be a part of it,” he said. He applauded the involvement of teachers and parents and said the Tucker Clarke Primary — his own alma mater — has done well academically over the years with strong discipline instilled in students.
