BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 13th April 2023)-One month after the first wave of performers slated to perform at the upcoming St. Kitts Music Festival, the wait for the second wave ended on Thursday 13th April 2023, with the addition of nineteen (acts), giving a total of 29 (twenty nine) entertainers overall slotted for the three-nightly concert extravaganza slated for Thursday 22nd to 24th June at the Warner Park in Basseterre.
“The first round of artistes was released on March 12th, and I know that we all have been anxiously awaiting further announcement. Well, the wait is over,” was what Minister of Tourism Marsha Henderson said during a press conference held at the Royal St.
Kitts Hotel. Via a video screen unveiling, the second wave announcementwhich concluded with Burna Boy-features: AkaiiUSweet, Kollision Band, Small Axe Band, Stadics, Erica Edwards, Anthony B, Romain Virgo, Teejay, Nicha B, 313 Family, Mr.
Bagnall, Kes the Band, Nailah Blackman, Preedy, Gramps Morgan, Nu Vybes Band International, Ricardo Drue and Dexta Daps. The first wave of the ‘Big Reveal’ were: Skillibeng, Skinny Fabulous, Chronixx, Valiant, Koffee, Byron Messia, Govana, Patrice Roberts, Air Supply and Grand Masters Band.
The Tourism Minister said the Music Festival was “created with the goal of generating revenue for the destination during the summer months after the peak of the tourism season. Hence, as we promote the festival, we are first promoting a destination festival, and we encourage our visitors and our members of the diaspora to come and venture deeper and peel back the layers of the destination that offers culinary, historical, eco adventure and of course the rhythm of our people through music.” Henderson pointed out that there are fringe events being planned of which the festival of course will be the main highlight.
She shared also that it is anticipate that the week of events will begin on June
17th and end on 25th June. Staple events such as White Sands and Escape, according to her, will be joined by other events noting that this will be announced over the next few weeks as such is confirmed with partners.
The Tourism Minister said the concerts are scheduled for 7:00pm nightly. “All concerts are scheduled for 7:00pm nightly. Please note, however, that the committee reserves the right to adjust the time. The admission fee for each concert night remains mere EC$135 orUS$50.
