BASSETERRE St.Kitts (Thursday 27th October 2022) – A young man who was imprisoned for over a decade for a double murder incident in the St. Peter’s community allegedly took his life two days after the 13th anniversary of the deadly day.
Credible information reaching this media house indicates that dead is Jadel Browne of Upper Monkey Hill has taken his own life. A statement from the Press Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister informed that “The Ministry of Health regrets to inform the public that at about 3:30 am today, Thursday 27th October, a male patient admitted to the Psychiatric Ward of the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment committed suicide.”
The murder victims were John Napier, 72 of Cedar Grove and Sylvester Harris alias ‘Skinny’ and ‘Mackerel’, 37, of Upper Monkey Hill on the afternoon of Sunday 25th October 2009. The weapon used was said to be a cutlass.
52-year-old Wilfred ‘Che’ Simmonds – also of Upper Monkey Hill – was wounded.
Browne was 22 years old at the time of the incident which puts him at his age at 34 to 35.
Police report indicated then that at about 4:00 PM, they responded to a report at Milliken Estate.
Investigations revealed that Napier was in his yard when he was attacked and chopped across the head with a machete.
Police say that Napier’s attacker went to Parray’s Housing where he attacked and stabbed Wilfred Simmonds outside a garden there, then went to the home of Harris and stabbed him multiple times in the back of his head and neck.
Napier was pronounced dead at the scene by the district medical doctor.
Both men were taken to the JNF Hospital where Harris died on arrival while Simmonds was treated for injuries to his forehead and chest and warded in stable condition.
