ILO Statement — 09 October 2020

On World Mental Health Day 2020 under the theme “Mental Health for All — Greater Investment, Greater Access, Everyone, Everywhere,” the ILO highlighted the urgent need to address the mental health risks of COVID-19 that will persist long after the pandemic. Teleworking has brought new stresses as workers find themselves isolated or juggling family and professional responsibilities. Those who cannot telework have felt unjustly exposed to pandemic risks with all the anxiety it has brought. Governments must continue to invest in social protection and take extra supportive measures to ensure the mental health of vulnerable groups, including young people, older workers, women, and front-line workers.
