Three Young People Die Hours Apart Following Separate Incidents In St. Kitts-Nevis

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Friday 29th October 2021) — Three young people have lost their lives hours apart following two separate incidents in St. Kitts-Nevis. Dead are 18-year-old Annica Carey of Kittstodarts, St. Kitts; 21-year-old Shaheem Farrell of Church Ground; and 23-year-old Xavier Howell of Morning Star, Nevis. Police are investigating both incidents.

In relation to Carey, on Thursday 21st October 2021, police received a report of a house fire at Kittstodarts. Upon arrival, with fire services already having extinguished the fire, Carey and 23-year-old Kevaune Rodriquez were found inside the structure. Carey was pronounced dead by the District Medical Doctor. Rodriquez received severe burns about the body and is warded at the JNF General Hospital in critical condition. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine her exact cause of death. Separately, local authorities are investigating a shooting incident at Pinney’s Beach in Nevis on Friday 22nd October. Police responded to reports of gunshots heard sometime after 10:00 p.m. and found the motionless bodies of Farrell and Howell. The District Medical Doctor pronounced both men dead.
