I have not put pen to paper for quite some time now, but as we are on the eve of yet another election in our dear federation of St. Kitts and Nevis — an election where we are literally fighting for the heart and soul of our beloved country — I think it is pertinent for me to speak to the character of my childhood friend, liming partner, brother, and quite possibly one of my best friends in this entire world. I write not only in the aforementioned capacities, but most importantly, as someone who has served as one of his Senior Political Advisors for the past seven years.

When I was asked to assist Umi politically about seven years ago, I had only one caveat: that if at any point I sensed that he was seeking elected office for any purpose other than to be a servant leader to his constituents or the great people of St. Kitts and Nevis, I would no longer lend my time, support, or expertise in assisting him. I can tell you, without any water in my mouth, that in seven years of working with Dr Terrance Drew in a professional capacity, there has NEVER been one second or minute when I have had reason to doubt or question his reason for seeking elected office. He is REAL. He is sincere. He genuinely cares about people. He genuinely cares about service. He genuinely cares about the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. He genuinely wants to make a difference.

As a graduate of the University of Dallas where I earned a Master of Politics degree, the professors strongly encouraged that we use our knowledge, gifts, and talents for the ‘good.’ Dr Terrance Drew embodies the ‘good.’ As a scholar and student of politics, I can tell you that Dr Terrance Drew is a rarity — an anomaly. His style of politics does not align with the tainted or corrupt practice of politics as we have come to know it, but rather with politics as it was intended to be by political philosophers such as Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato. It’s a style of politics that is intended for the good of the polis or city state, not for power, influence, exploitation, or ill-gotten gains. He has a mind of his own. He is more than capable of making decisions and thinking for himself. He listens to advice. He assesses. Then he makes his decisions. No one is going to TELL him what to do. He will NOT be anyone’s puppet. He is also open to criticism, and he does not take things personally. This is the mark of a great leader. People of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew is the right choice. He is READY. He is more than READY! CHOOSE LABOUR! VOTE LABOUR!
