TAIWAN AMBASSADOR LAUDS CHILD MONTH RECYCLING PARADE — June 27, 2022

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MMS-SKN) — Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Michael Chau-Horng Lin, is lauding efforts of the government through the Ministries of Education and Environment in sensitising children at a tender age on the importance of recycling waste. Ambassador Lin joined Minister of Education Hon. Vincent Byron Jr. and other officials for the 37th celebration of Child Month’s final event, the Children’s Parade, on Friday June 24, which started at the Tamarind Tree in Greenlands and ended at West Independence Square. “I was delighted to attend the Child Month 2022 parade, which was held under the theme ‘Recycle: Save the Earth for our Children’s Future.’ I am very touched that so many young school kids from the pre-schools to primary schools attended the parade,” said the Ambassador. The St. Kitts and Nevis Solid Waste Management and Recycling Project, a partnership between the Federal Government and the Government of Taiwan, has collection points on specific days each week on both St. Kitts and Nevis. The Ambassador noted that if recycled materials are shipped overseas for treatment, “the money we generate could be put back into the economy, and we could provide financial assistance to the schools or to the communities.”

PHILADELPHIA PATHFINDERS CLUB OF TABERNACLE HOLDS FUNDRAISING WALK-A-THON — June 28, 2022

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (MMS-SKN) — Members of the Philadelphia Pathfinders Club of Tabernacle Village held a successful fundraising walk-a-thon on Saturday June 25, in aid of the forthcoming dedication of their church. The walk-a-thon was held in collaboration with the Men’s Ministry of the Philadelphia Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tabernacle. Due to fringe activities of the St. Kitts Music Festival, the route was changed at the last minute to travel in the opposite direction along the F.T. William Highway, ending at the green pasture outside Beacon Heights Estate. Pastor Theodore Smith told participants the dedication of the church will be held on Sunday July 10 at 1:00 p.m. Organiser Mrs Taryn Archibald, Director of Philadelphia Junior Youth Ministry, said the youth were “properly occupied because they were having fun even as they raised funds for the dedication of the Philadelphia Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tabernacle.”
