Basseterre, St Kitts – The St Kitts Nevis Amateur Basketball Association (SKNABA) unequivocally condemns the recent unruly behaviour exhibited by a few players during Thursday’s game 2 Premier League Finals playoff game between Sol Sandy Point Falcons and Achievers Sports Club Wolf Pack. The actions of these individuals fall well short of the standards of sportsmanship and professionalism that our association upholds.
The incident, which was streamed live, has serious negative implications for the integrity of our league and the image of basketball in our community. In response, the SKNABA executive convened an emergency meeting on Saturday, June 22, at 4:00 pm to address the situation promptly and decisively.
After thorough deliberations, the executive unanimously endorsed the recommendations of its Games Committee Report. The following disciplinary actions have therefore been issued based on the St Kitts Nevis Amateur Basketball Association’s Rules and Regulations: -Coach Sean Crossley: Suspended: 1 game -Player #1 Taslin Hodge: Suspended: 1 game -Player #6 Lewis Welsh: Suspended: 1 game -Player #3 Chavez Belboda: Suspended: 4 games -Player #8 Antonio Boyd: Suspended: 4 games The Game Committee also recommended that Chavez Belboda and Antonio Boyd be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for their despicable actions that have brought the sport and our association into disrepute.
