BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 17th November 2021) — As the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party prepares to name its new leader, the three nominees — Dr. Terrance Drew, Dr. Geoffrey Hanley and Konris Maynard — have each presented their own video campaign message saying to the voter delegates why they deserve to be chosen for that top spot at the party’s electoral conference, slated for Sunday 28th November, 2021.

Party Chairman and caretaker for Constituency Eight Dr. Terrance Drew was the first to publicize his national campaign address on Tuesday 2nd November: “I have taken this bold step of accepting this nomination for the position of national leader because I firmly believe that the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party is the best option for you the people of St. Kitts and Nevis and I am humble and grateful for the confidence you have placed in me. I thank you for your love, support and prayers as I endeavour to bring leadership to our party and our country that is inclusive, empathetic, nurturing, consultative, transparent and above all democratic, one that chooses right over easy, one that seeks to nurture a new generation of committed leaders.”

Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency One (East Basseterre) released his message second on Tuesday 9th November: “Our St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party was born out of the working class struggle of basic human rights in this never ending journey. We have encountered many crossroads and this my friends is one of them. The baton of leadership must now be passed as it has been passed so many times before — from the Right Excellent Sir Robert Bradshaw to Sir Lee Moore to the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas — and I take great pleasure in accepting the high honour of your nomination as National Leader of our great party.”

Next was caretaker for Constituency Three (West Basseterre) Konris Maynard, on Tuesday 16th November: “We are at a historic moment in the life of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and indeed our entire Federation. Our distinguished leader of the last 32 years, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas, after having served us comrades and the people of this land beautifully well, is ready to pass on the leadership of the most successful and progressive political party in our nation. We are eternally grateful for the immeasurable sacrifices of our dear comrade leader.”

Maynard continued: “It is with this spirit that I stand before you today to accept your nomination for leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party to now take that mantle of moving this generation to the next new and exciting level. It is what Labour is about and it is what I am about.”
