SKN Imports New COVID-19 Patient After More Than 70 Days Without Active Cases

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts-Nevis (Friday 10th July 2020) — After more than seventy days without any active case announcement, the Federation of St. Kitts-Nevis has recorded a new COVID-19 patient after a citizen returned home from the United States of America.

New Minister of Health Akilah Byron-Nisbett, speaking at the NEOC COVID-19 Briefing on Saturday 4th July 2020, informed that the one additional case brings the total number of cases to 16. The patient is a returning national who landed on 19th June 2020 from Washington DC and has been in quarantine since arrival.

“The distribution of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Federation is now as follows: 12 in St. Kitts and 4 in Nevis,” she said. Byron-Nisbett advised citizens and residents of their individual and collective responsibility to adhere to COVID-19 prevention measures, including physical distancing, wearing face masks in public, hand hygiene, and avoiding mass gatherings.
