BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Tuesday 18th December 2018)-Rucas HE, is seemingly the crowd’s favorite heading into the National Soca Monarch finals after he topped the Soca Monarch semi-finals, with 377 points.

He dished out his popular tune ‘Good Vybz’ and had the small crowd dancing and waving from the beginning to end of his energetic performance.

Bary C: scored 349 points with Lil Miss following closely behind with 346 points.

KO scored 344 points; KT: 334; Blade: 303; Dagah: 300; Jeezy Sparta: 300; BMWA: 293 points; C Mac: 290 points and Foxy: 281 points going into the final round.

Mighty Honesty was listed as the alternate.

Daddy 2sec, Jaren, LAX, Steel, Tannabal and Jeezy Sparta participated but did not advance to the finals.

The 2018 Soca Monarch elimination round was cancelled, allegedly because a mere handful of artistes entered the competition this year.

In previous years, there were two categories for soca music- groovy and power. However, the two have been combined as of 2017.

Vernon Elliott, Chairperson of the Soca Monarch Committee, said he was happy with the overall performances of the artistes and urged the general public to come out for the December 21st finals.
