Basseterre, St. Kitts (Thursday 25th June 2026) — There is currently no policy preventing persons under the age of 18 from attending the St. Kitts Music Festival. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Tivanna Wharton sought to clarify public concerns during a press conference on Thursday 25th June 2026 held at the St. Kitts Marriott on the occasion of the 28th edition of the annual three-day festivity. “Currently there is no policy in place that restricts persons who are under 18 from attending the music festival. To be clear: there is no policy that anybody will be turned away from the music festival,” she said.
The clarification comes amid widespread public discussion and social media commentary regarding whether minors would be prohibited from attending the event. While stressing that there are no restrictions, the tourism official acknowledged that certain aspects of the festival may not be suitable for children and urged parents and guardians to exercise responsibility. “We recognize that there are elements within the festival that are not friendly for children. We encourage parents and guardians to ensure that children are accompanied at all times for safety purposes. Again, it remains the responsibility of the parents and the guardians to ensure that their children are in safe environments at all times.” She noted that any future policy change would only come through broad public consultation: “If there’s the appetite for it, then you all will be part of the decision.”
