OECS COMMISSION SENDS CONDOLENCES TO CUBA

Thursday, May 12, 2022 — The Commission of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) extends sincere condolences to the Republic of Cuba on the unfortunate incident involving an explosion at the historic Hotel Saratoga in Havana on Friday, May 6, 2022. The Commission refers in particular to the casualties and loss of life, and the severe damage to property caused by the explosion, and sympathises with those who have suffered loss, injury or are traumatised by this tragic event. The Commission extends deepest condolences on the tragic loss of life and assures the Government and people of Cuba of its solidarity and prayerful consideration.

NEVIS CO-OPERATIVE CREDIT UNION 50TH ANNIVERSARY RELAY RUN — MAY 21

CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS, May 11, 2022 (MMS-SKN) — As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the Nevis Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU) Limited will hold a relay run on Saturday May 21, taking participants from the Vance Amory International Airport in St. James Parish to the Villa Grounds in Charlestown. “What we are trying to do is to encourage persons to be active, to exercise, and to stay active. We recognise that good health habits are important if we are to move our nation forward,” said Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Relay Run Subcommittee, Mr Kenroy Warner. With six stations along the relay run route, each team will have six participants in an open race with no age or gender categories. Registration fee is $60 per team of six. First place wins $1,000 and a trophy, second place $750 and a trophy, and third place $500 and a trophy. Registration closes Friday May 13.
