BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 15th September 2021) — Chairperson of the St. Kitts-Nevis National Carnival Committee Shannon Hawley has indicated that negotiation is underway about hosting shows with a live audience for Sugar Mas 50. Speaking on ZIZ Radio on Wednesday 15th September 2021, she said: “The hope is to build on the virtual experience but it is also our hope to be able to have a live audience for the shows, and that’s something we’re working out with both the Task Force and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. We think that we have the opportunity to social distance for a pageant — there is no mixing and mingling and jumping up, and it’s a whole different atmosphere. We think that once we find a venue suitable enough to accommodate individuals who are socially distanced, we would make that presentation and continue our negotiations with the Task Force.” The 2021–2022 theme is “Sugar Mas 50! Fun, Vibe, Energy!”
