Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 16, 2023 (RSCNPF): A man from District ‘A’ has been formally charged for the offence of Rape and the offence of Kidnapping. He was charged on March 14, 2023. The offence was committed on November 13, 2022.
He has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison. – LOCAL NEWS – 3 covered.” Dr. Drew disclosed that the government is seeking to a biotechnician (lab technician) “to deal with our equipment but the other thing that we’re dealing with is seeking to get a pulmonologist which is a lung doctor because of the high cases of asthma and so forth ….people here with asthma, many of them would have never done a lung study and so we really want to attack that.
So in short order we’ll have about four more specialists on the ground who would add to the pool and increase inter-services and increase of course improve the quality of service, and so we’ll be looking at a significant improvement when it comes to that.” About the government’s plans to build a new hospital, Dr. Drew commented “we have to build, it is not a choice, and when we say smart hospital we’re talking about climate smart.” He went on to say: “Because of climate change, buildings are going to deteriorate faster than expected because of the increase in temperature and other changes that that would bring and the hospital will deteriorate quicker than expected, and we have to have a hospital that really can withstand the acute and insidious changes of climate and that is why we have no choice but to build a hospital that can withstand it.” Dr.
Drew added: “If anything happens in St. Kitts and Nevis, one of the things that people can expect you to still be functioning is a hospital and we cannot take any chances with that, and that is why we’re going to invest $50 to $60 million US dollars to build the hospital.
I showed a possible site that we’re already looking at because we’re going to have soil testing and all of that within this first term for sure. That is high priority and we’re moving along quickly to ensure that we have that hospital.
So we’re looking at increased and improved services.” As understood from the Health Minister, the new hospital will be put on a pathway to be accredited.“We’re going to put the hospital on the pathway of accreditation….we need an accredited hospital. Many of the issues that have been plaguing health, it partly-from my own judgement having been in health care for many years now at different levels is that if you don’t have what is called a quality improvement process, things deteriorate, things don’t change and everybody becomes frustrated.
That accreditation process wi make sure that we are on a pathway of what we call consistent quality improvement processes and we are on the pathway to that…  Dr. Drew said a consultant is going to come in next month “who is going to put us on that pathway.” Speaking about the new hospital, the Health Minister remarked: “People must know that I’m serious about it and I’m not going to stop until it is delivered.” A section of members of the nursing fraternity seen in attendance at a meeting held with Prime Minister and Minister of Health Dr.
