Within recent times there has been much ado about eliminating corruption and reducing crime. But given the recent history of those matters in our country, it begs the question as to just how genuine and realistic are the claims. When politicians indulge in corrupt and illegal practices in order to get themselves elected, they send a terrible message to their enablers. People may soon reason that if the politicians could do what they did and get away with it, then why can’t they do similarly? COVID-19 has led to our overlooking the fact that criminal activity in the country has not abated, contrary to claims made by government. In the words of Jesus: “How can Satan cast out Satan?” So too we ask: “How can corruption drive out corruption?”
