Thank you Jesus!!! The very first words that came to me when I got the call at 4:30am last Saturday that we had won. We were the government. It’s still so (as the Americans would say) surreal. I have pinched myself more than once to make sure that I am not dreaming. Timothy had us so stressed and depressed that some of us are taking a while to realize that the nightmare is really over.
We were praying to save the soul of our country. We were praying to restore freedom, peace of mind and calm to our beloved federation. Something happened when Timothy won a second term. In fact, something happened to all the ministers when Team Unity got a second term. And like how it was a 9-2 licking that we got in 2020, and we had lost a seat never lost before in the history of SKN politics, these people showed us no mercy. And when I say us, I don’t just mean Labour supporters — PAM people were bawling out too. It seemed as if in order to get through, everybody was going to have to wear orange because PAM was not putting up any resistance.
And this point is being hammered home to diehard Labour supporters like me since the victory last Friday. I am being told by my kith and kin that if Labour messes up, they have the X. They have told me that as happy as they were to vote in Labour, they will be happy to vote them out too. It’s perform or get out. I like that because that will mean an end to transactional politics. Votes won’t be sold and bought like black pudding on a Saturday afternoon. It means politicians won’t be allowed to use the resources of the state to become millionaires. It means that the feet of the ministers will be kept to the fire. I am convinced that Dr Drew and his team are determined to work in the best interest of all of the people. But PAM and PLP got some serious whupping last Friday. People from all walks of life and all political persuasions obviously voted to end the madness that had befallen our beloved federation. Before our eyes a man was becoming despotic and dangerous. I’m happy that God answered our prayers. I’m happy that Dr. Drew and the SKNLP are in government. Vote for the caring HAND of Labour. Yes, Lord. I’m happy.
