Last Lap. That’s the name of the place. People say that the Task Force gave permission for sixty-four, but places twice the size can only have thirty. People say that the man can’t hold his liquor. When he not wukking up on Douggie, he threatening to wrath up the police. And raatid, six cruise ships were in the harbor. So what’s the noise about? It’s a shame that there are one set of rules for ordinary people and no rules for the other one percent of the population.
The one percent laughing at us. They’re wrong but they know they’re strong. And because they know that we love to be in their company even if it is just to get the opportunity to lick their asses, they’re laughing after us. Look at Lindsay’s press release. Derision. Scorn. Disrespect. Arrogance. They do it because they know that they will get away with it because they know that we want to be in their company.
Bradshaw had warned us about those people. Bradshaw had told us not to give those with economic power, political power. But ordinary people really don’t hear. We believe that because we are in their company, we are in their world. Ordinarily, these people have no use for us. But they need us to get them and keep them in political power. We give them the power then they make us come and beg for the dregs, while they eat the cream. And because they know that we are satisfied with the dregs, we get the dregs. Soon we begin to believe that our dregs and their cream are the same.
I have to reflect on the Basseterre High School. The one percent was able to get ordinary people who were all educated at the very school to condemn and abandon their alma mater. We messed up our own children’s lives and livelihoods just to help them get one of our own out of political power. And as soon as the mission was accomplished, the one percent abandoned all with such indecent haste. Now our children’s education is back-burner to CPL and Carnival. We created these monsters. We know what we were creating when we were getting rid of Labour but we did it anyway.
