BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 11th May 2023)-Six days after a deadly shooting claimed the life of a man in his 20s in Nevis, police on St. Kitts responded to a shooting incident which left two men in their 20s injured after being attacked by a gunman.
Wounded are 24-year-old Khalifa Liburd alias ‘BK’ of Buckley’s Housing and 22-year-old Grenville Syder alias ‘Short Boss’ of Market Street. Information from the Police Public Relations office indicates that members of the Royal St.
Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) responded to a report of gunshots heard in the Buckley’s Estate area on St. Kitts May 9th 2023 just after 10 PM. Reportedly, an assessment of the scene revealed that the incident left two males with non-fatal gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Liburd and Syder were approached by a single masked assailant who fired several shots in their direction before fleeing the scene. The Crime Scene Unit processed the crime scene and collected all items of evidential value.
Mr. Liburd and Mr. Syder are currently warded at the Joseph N. France General Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment for their wounds. Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing and the general public will be updated appropriately.
In relation to the recent fatal shooting in Nevis, The RSCNPF responded to a report of gunshots being heard in the Craddock Road area at around 8:35 PM on May 3rd. Dead is 27year-old Shakel Campbell of Craddock Road. Reportedly, upon arrival at the scene, police observed Campbell sitting upright and motionless in his car parked in his yard.
Further examination of Campbell revealed that he had been shot several times about his body by [an] unknown assailant(s). He was pronounced dead at the scene and was subsequently transported to the Alexandra Hospital Morgue.
