BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 24th February 2022) — Chairman of the COVID-19 National Task Force Abdias Samuel has informed that there will be less NEOC (National Emergency Operations Centre) briefings as part of the scaling-back efforts, starting in March 2022. He made the disclosure at the NEOC Press briefing held on Wednesday 16th February 2022. “Some of you have actually become religious towards the NEOC briefings. However, as we scale down with everything else, we have to scale down laterally across the board so I want to inform you that on the approval of the Mitigation Council Chairs, they have agreed that we will have two more briefings in the month of March and then we will have one briefing in April, which will signal the end of the NEOC briefings for the past two years,” Samuel said.

“What will happen from thereon is that we will have briefings based on situational demand. If there’s a situation that demands the sharing of information, then we will have these briefings.” Samuel noted that information will still be available on the COVID-19 website and on various social media platforms including the police, Ministry of Health, NEMA and other government agencies such as the Tourism Authority.
