The Cottle Church on Round Hill Estate is celebrating its Bicentennial with an Ecumenical Church Service on the 5th May, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. It is the first known church in the Caribbean that allowed blacks and whites, freed and enslaved to worship together.
The church was physically constructed by the spiritually, especially skilled, craftsmen, women and children enslaved on the plantation. Two hundred years later the main structure stands upright as evidence of the pride and precision with which it was built.
The
Chaderton family, and the Cottle Church Restoration Group (a non-profit organization), in collaboration with the Nevis Ministry of Tourism are making plans for this Ecumenical Church Service to commemorate the 200th Anniversary taking place on the church grounds Sunday, 5th May, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. Donations will be welcomed and will go towards the continued maintenance and upkeep of the church and its surroundings.
