BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 24th April 2020) – Public Relations Officer at the St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) Gawain Fraites is encouraging residents to practice energy-saving habits during the COVID-19 stay-at-home periods.

“What persons should realise is that because they are home, their home bill will go up. It is just natural. But still, if you are not using an appliance or a light, turn it off,” he said.

Fraites noted a significant increase in customers signing up for online payment platforms and using bank portals. He also called on those facing financial hardship to take advantage of SKELEC’s COVID-19 moratorium — a three-month deferred payment plan covering April, May and June 2020. Customers can apply by emailing customerservice@skelec.kn or calling 869-465-2000.
