“There is a Hindu and Buddhism Law called KARMA, which is the sum of a person’s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences. The older folks used to say, ‘You spit up in the air, it falls right back down in your face!’ Life has a universal message for all of us which we should always heed: whatever we do today has consequences tomorrow!”
In 1972 when Michael Oliver Powell boycotted my tourist ship, he could not envisage that tomorrow he could become the Minister of Tourism and thus, being unable to envisage the many tomorrows he would confront, he displayed his unpatriotic, disloyal, treacherous yard fowl behaviour by boycotting my tourist ship. Eight years later, Powell — one of the defendants in the 1967 Attempted Coup — became Minister of Tourism and hired the same man who had brought the tourist ship to me in 1972. When the man arrived at Government Headquarters, the first person he asked for and wanted to see was Earle Clarke.
Here was my chance to strike back at Michael Oliver Powell, to repay PAM for running investors from building up Frigate Bay as a tourist resort in 1973, and for encouraging taxi drivers to bad-talk St. Kitts to visitors. But I was not a Powell. I was not a traitor to my beloved country. St. Kitts is my borning land. It is here that my navel strings are buried and, even though I might not favour those governing it, I cannot bad mouth it. I am a born and created Eagle and people MUST ADMIRE and RESPECT ME at all times. I have no intention of allowing myself to become a yard fowl to be looked across at because I am on their level. I hope that this has been an educational series which will enable others to see the destructive nature of PAM!
