BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Friday, 20th September 2024)- Organisers of the highly anticipated 2024 Miss St Kitts and Nevis Queen Pageant have announced changes to this year’s format, introducing two separate days of pageantry (with a ten days spacing) featuring six ambassadors.
The swimsuit segment will take place on Sunday 8th December, followed by the main event on Thursday 19th December. Contestants expected to take to the stage are: Ambassador #1: Jutambien Kelly, Ambassador #2: Vanessa Simon, Ambassador #3: Daneika Dickenson, Ambassador #4: Tyanna Richards, Ambassador #5: Tonia Manners and Ambassador #6: Mikaya Collins.
Speaking at the media update and update event held on Tuesday – BUSINESS –
17th September 2024 at ZIZ Studio, Chairperson of the National Carnival Committee, Shannon Hawley-who made the announcementexplained the reason behind the change. “So this year we have introduced… on Sunday the 8th of December a swimsuit showcase featuring the ambassadors.
It will be judged; it will feature two segments and the contestants will be able to rock two swimsuits in that appearance. Now we’ve decided to do that to garner additional excitement for the show as well as to ensure that on the night of the 19th of December when it’s the main event, the show’s time frame is reduced significantly.” “We don’t want individuals to be up in Warner Park two o’clock three o’clock in the morning so we’ve decided to remove that segment from the main competition, move it to a different date, and ensure that the competition on the 19th finishes by midnight or before.
So we think that that is an added touch to the overall competition and enhances the overall competition,  she added. In an eye-catching video presentation at that media event, the six contestants were introduced in a dramatic style.
The video built upon an earlier teaser that left viewers intrigued, as the faces of the contestants remained hidden while they each received an envelope. The voice-over declares in part: “Within lies an invitation to stand among the honoured, to be lit by the legacy of those who came before you.
This is a summons, not just to a competition, but to a duty, one that demands your poise, your strength and your unwavering commitment to the values we hold dear. As each of you receive this message, know that you are not just a contestant, but an embodiment of the spirit of our people.
Your journey begins now in the quiet moment where you stand with this letter in hand. Soon, you will join your sisters, and together, you will represent the heart and soul of our nation.  The unveiling showcased each ambassador strutting in elegant, floor-length dresses of the same style but different colour.
Hawley also announced that
the new Pageant Chair is Jason Amory, whom she praised for having a longstanding track record in the world of pageantry The team behind the unveiling video production includes Modern Elegance Photography/ Team MEP, Devaughn Roland (videographer, editor, and creative director), Ajani Davis (photographer) and Shanreka Wilkinson in concept development. The dresses worn by the contestants were designed by Mrs.
Karen Matthew of GEMS Fashion, adding to the visual allure of the presentation. The video production announcement has been met with enthusiasm from the public, with many commending
the high production value of the teaser and unveiling video. Members of the public have been expressing their excitement about the upcoming events, praising the changes and anticipating a show of high standards and elegance.
