BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, October 17, 2022 (MMS-SKN) — The National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited continues to play its role as a good corporate citizen through nation building and philanthropic activities in the various sectors of the society by partnering as a corporate sponsor with civic minded organisations.

Last week National Caribbean Insurance enlisted as a corporate sponsor of two events that are geared at improving education on health targeting mainly women, and on education targeting primary school students.

The first event was on Thursday October 13, when the company’s Senior Manager, Sales and Marketing, Mr Floyd Charles, presented a sponsorship cheque of $2,000 to the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation’s Secretary, Ms Marva Pinney, in support of the Foundation’s noble work and advocacy for cancer patients as the Federation joined the rest of the world in observing October as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited is delighted to join with Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation as a corporate partner in support of their excellent work and advocacy for cancer patients,” said Mr Charles, as he presented the sponsorship cheque to Ms Pinney.

Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and its members are committed to working hard and helping the citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis in the fight of breast cancer until it is no more. The Foundation was established in July 2009, and legally registered on the Register of Foundations pursuant to the Foundation Act on October 29, 2010.

“National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation in your commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month of October with a wonderful schedule of activities to culminate with another milestone of the 14th Annual Pink Walk slated for Saturday October 29, 2022,” said Mr Charles.

According to Ms Pinney, the Foundation had a number of activities to commemorate the Breast Cancer Awareness Month which started on Sunday October 2 with a church service at the Bethesda/New Dawn Moravian Church in Cayon.

That was followed by breast and health screening sessions that were held at Independence Square on Saturday October 8; a panel discussion, ‘Ask the Doctor — Awareness is Power’ on ZIZ TV on Thursday October 13; and a church service on ‘Pink Sunday’ October 16 at the Antioch Baptist Church in Lime Kiln Commercial Development, West Basseterre.

‘Pink Friday’ will be observed on October 28, when persons are encouraged to ‘wear pink all day, everywhere!’; while the last event, Pink Walk 2022 ‘Tutus & Tall Socks’, will be held on Saturday October 29. The walk which starts at 5:30 a.m. will take participants from the parking lot in Buckley’s opposite Best Buy Supermarket, to the Frigate Bay lawn.

Cementing his company’s support for the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities, Mr Floyd Charles told the Foundation’s Secretary Ms Marva Pinney: “National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited will be joining the Pink Walk event and we encourage everyone to come out and support this exceptionally worthy cause.”

On Friday October 14, Mr Floyd Charles presented a cheque of $1,500 to Chair of the Services Committee on the Board of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga, Mr Cosbert Woods, in assistance to the Rotary Club’s staging of the 16th edition of its Annual Primary School Spelling Bee Competition that was held on Thursday October 20 at the Antioch Baptist Church in Lime Kiln, West Basseterre.

“We at the National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited are pleased to partner with the Rotary Club of Liamuiga to stage the 16th edition of its Annual Primary School Spelling Bee competition slated for Thursday October 20,” said National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited’s Senior Manager, Sales and Marketing, Mr Floyd Charles.

On behalf of National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited, he wished hearty congratulations to the Rotary Club of Liamuiga on the return of the Annual Primary School Spelling Bee competition, and their initiatives to promote community and social development.

Mr Charles commented that as the country moves closer to normalcy across the national spectrum, the return of the Annual Primary School Spelling Bee competition is very inspiring and empowering for the nation’s youth.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited has demonstrated a strong commitment to national development through the education of our children, and we are proud to join in this worthy cause to promote academic excellence among our youth,” concluded Mr Charles.

According to Mr Woods, as part of Rotary Club of Liamuiga’s efforts to give back to the community, to work with the children, and to empower various groups, it has been putting on an Annual Spelling Bee Competition across the primary schools in St. Kitts.

“National Caribbean Insurance is a critical partner with the Rotary Club of Liamuiga,” pointed out Mr Woods. “They have always been very supportive of the initiatives that we have undertaken both in the community, with the youth, with the environment, and we are grateful to have them on board in this particular regard to sponsor the Primary School Spelling Bee Competition 2022.”
