BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 4th April 2018)- The sudden death of a female infant in the emergency room of the Joseph N France General Hospital on Tuesday April 3rd has reportedly become a subject of an investigation by hospital officials.
It is understood that a parent of the deceased child first took her to the emergency room the day before (Monday) with complaints of fever and vomiting and that the child was treated and later discharged.
Reportedly, the parent rushed the child back to the emergency room around 6:00AM on the day in question (Tuesday) stating that the child had taken a turn for the worst.
It is being alleged that the child died while waiting for treatment while another source at the hospital refuted that claim whilst noting that the child received immediate medical attention when she arrived however she stopped breathing while the staff was working on her.
“Resuscitation efforts deemed unsuccessful,” the source added.
The source also stated “there wasn’t any wrongdoing in the death of a toddler who died in hospital on a return visit, one day after being discharged from the emergency room.”
