Information Minister Melford Nicholson announced that Michael Browne, 44, who resigned as Antigua’s Education Minister on Wednesday, has been arrested and charged. Following the news of Browne’s arrest, Prime Minister Gaston Browne asked the Governor General to rescind his appointment from the Cabinet, and reassigned the Education Ministry to Sports and Festivals Minister Daryl Matthew. Browne reportedly resigned following allegations made against him by a woman. He was granted bail of EC$15,000 when he appeared in court and ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to police three times per week.
