BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (MARCH 2018)- A number of persons including three (3) visitors were on Friday 23rd February rushed to the hospital following a collision involving a taxi bus and an Island Purified water delivery bus and to date one individual has been charged by police.

The accident occurred on the Frigate Bay Road, in the area which houses Bobsy’s Super Wings.

Investigators say the Island Purified Water bus which was driven by Kevin Dyer of Wingfield Road, Old Road was travelling from Frigate Bay towards Basseterre and Motor Taxi TA22, which is owned and was driven by Agatha Adams of St. Peters, was travelling in the opposite direction when an attempt was made by Dyer to overtake an omnibus when it collided with the oncoming taxi.

The three visitors and both drivers, were transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

On Monday 26th February Dyer was charged for the offence of Dangerous Driving.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.

In light of the incident Inspector Carl Caines of the Traffic Department made an appeal to drivers to be weary of speed limits and to exercise caution while driving.

“I want to take this time to appeal to the motoring public to be aware of the speed limit and to exercise due care and attention at all times while driving on the road”, he said.

“What I find is that most of these accidents are caused by speeding, to this end the Traffic Department had embarked upon a campaign of reducing speeding with patrols, VCPs and the presence of the police,” he added.
